The Montini Centre for Peace and the Common Good is a community focused not-for-profit organisation established to advance peace, human dignity, integral human development and the common good.
Inspired by the vision of Pope Paul VI, whose family name was Montini, the Centre draws upon Catholic Social Teaching while working for the benefit of the wider community and welcoming collaboration with people and organisations of all faiths and none.
We believe that peace is more than the absence of conflict. It depends upon justice, human dignity, participation, solidarity and the creation of social conditions in which every person and community can flourish.
Through education, research, dialogue, practical community support and work connected with heritage, the Centre seeks to turn these principles into meaningful public benefit.

Our Purpose and Values
The Montini Centre exists to promote a more peaceful, compassionate and flourishing society. Our work is guided by four closely connected principles:
Human Dignity
Every person possesses inherent and inviolable worth. Human dignity calls us to treat every person with respect, compassion and justice, and to protect and promote their fundamental rights.
Integral Human Development
True development concerns every person and the whole person. It encompasses material wellbeing, relationships, education, culture, moral and spiritual growth, and the opportunity for people to participate in society and become active agents of their own development.
Peace
Peace is more than the absence of conflict. It is founded upon truth, justice, love and freedom. It is built through dialogue, reconciliation, non-violence, responsible institutions and the patient repair of relationships.
The Common Good
The common good consists in the social conditions that enable every person and community to participate, contribute and flourish. It calls people, communities and institutions to pursue a just and inclusive society, with particular concern for those who are poor, marginalised or at risk of exclusion.
What We Do
What We Do
Education and Public Understanding
We provide talks, workshops and resources exploring peace, conflict, reconciliation, human security, ethics, citizenship, Catholic Social Teaching, faith and public life.
Research and Dialogue
We undertake, support and share research, while creating opportunities for informed discussion, public engagement and constructive dialogue.
Pastoral Support
We promote and support pastoral care, chaplaincy, spiritual care and related services in educational, community, voluntary and public settings.
Community Development
We build partnerships with communities and organisations, support collaborative initiatives and develop our own projects in response to local needs connected with our values and areas of work.
Heritage and Community Assets
We support projects concerned with religious, historic, cultural and community heritage, including initiatives that help communities understand, celebrate, preserve and make sustainable use of valued buildings, traditions and other local assets.
